Walks Through Vienna

I live in Vienna since the year of 1994, but only since the year 2006 I regularely take my camera to walk through Vienna just like a tourist does.
Of course as an insider I see some places a tourist doesn't even know.
Here are the results of my walks through Vienna...

Attention! This category is widened every now and then.
I inform about updates on the title-homepage!

The first district is geographically as well as counting the numbers of sights the heart of Vienna and visitors of my homepage who have been to Vienna before sure will recognize the following places.

Stephansdom
St. Stephen's Cathedral

6th district - "Mariahilf"

The sixth district is situated west of the centre.
The Mariahilfer Straße, splitting the sixth from the seventh district, is the most important shopping-mile in Vienna.

7th district - "Neubau"

Behind the big museums - the museum for history of art and for history of
nature - the 7th district has its beginning. Most viewable points are the museum's quarter and the Spittelberg.

9th district- "Alsergrund"

North of the city-centre, along the Danube-Channel, you find the ninth district "Alsergrund". Here you find a lot of sights, of which many are rather unknown. Until now I pictured the Quarter around the Servite's monistry and the incinerating plant designed by the artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser.
The district offers even more and the visitor of this page may look forward to see some update considering this district.

The name has its origin in the name of the little creek "Als", running from the forests west of Vienna to the Danube Channel. But the creek is running subterrenian from the 17th district on. "Grund" is an old German word for "district" or "quarter".
